Planted Together (May 2020)
We appreciate the Dream Day Foundation for putting a smile on the faces of some of our seniors in the Porter Community! The project, “Planted Together”, was created to lift the spirits of senior citizens who are planted in their apartments due to the pandemic, COVID 19. They felt like the senior citizens being stuck in the homes would have a high risk of depression. Decorating their porches with flowers/plants would lift their spirits and brighten their days. They were absolutely correct in their thinking. The seniors were so excited about their flower gifts and have taken great pride in keeping the flowers watered daily.

Santa Shoppe and Community Tree (Dec 2023)
We had a fantastic time at the "Santa Shoppe and Community Tree" event held at LHA on December 12. The festive atmosphere was contagious, with tenants embodying the true spirit of the season – full of joy and laughter. Representatives from 15 units and a total of 24 tenants participated in the event. For those who couldn't make it, we have arranged for them to come in this week for special pictures with the Community Tree. The excitement was palpable as everyone placed their personally decorated ornaments on the tree. A big thank you to Ms. Beth Redding from Roanoke Housing Authority, Wally Williamson, and Lindsey Williamson for their invaluable assistance. Our volunteers truly make these events memorable! Hot chocolate and cookies added to the warmth of the occasion. The children had the delightful task of choosing a gift, beautifully wrapped, to place under their Christmas tree for their mothers. As we reflect on this heartwarming event, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming New Year and the prospect of organizing more engaging events at LHA. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success!
