COOLING and WATER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
ACHR's EMERGENCY SERVICES PROGRAM is assisting Lee County households with their Cooling and Water Bills during the months of June through September. The appointment line will be opened on June 12th. Appointments can be made: online at: www.achr.com or by telephone: 334-246-5266.
The appointment line will remain open until all appointments are scheduled for that month, and it will reopen the last week of each month to schedule for the following months. Applications can be found on our agency's website (www.achr.com), attached to the drop boxes located in Auburn and Opelika, or you may upload your documentation through our assistance portal: LITT Lite https://littliteal.azurewebsites.net
Drop boxes are located at:
Auburn: Frankie B. King, 950 Shelton Mill Road (next to the green benches)
Opelika: Darden Head Start, 601 S. 4th St., (behind Darden HS)
The Cooling Assistance Program:
Lee County Residents Only
Water Bills: Auburn, Opelika and Smiths Station
Documentation Needed: (COPIES ONLY)
- Picture ID (name on the bill)
- SS Cards for EVERYONE in the household
- Proof of income for 18 and over (last month's income)
- Current Cooling and Water Bill
- If apply: Current Housing Letter (HUD, Public Housing, or Section 8)
- If apply: Current SNAP Benefit Award Letter (from Montgomery)
- If apply: Current Pharmacy Printout (for anyone in your household)
Undocumented Families: (Assistance for household through qualifying child) Undocumented families may apply for assistance if the head of household has a picture ID, a child has a SS card and resides in the same household, and can provide the documentation listed above.
PLEASE NOTE: BEGINNING OCTOBER 2023, APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE PROVIDED FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE 70+. ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 70 MUST UPLOAD ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTATION ONLINE TO OUR LITT LITE PORTAL https://littliteal.azurewebsites.net
