Landlord - Smoke Detector Notice

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced that a smoke detector must be installed inside each bedroom as well as outside of bedrooms in any federally-assisted unit. Battery-operated smoke detectors will be sufficient.

Please have this completed by July 1, 2023. If there is not a smoke detector installed in every bedroom of the unit by that time, our inspectors will fail the unit and require installation within 30 days, or payment assistance will be placed on hold. On October 1, 2023, missing smoke detectors will be required to be installed within 24 hours or
payment assistance will be placed on hold.
